There are at least two wide angle lenses available for the Nikon Coolpix
900.
One (perhaps from Vivitar) costs around $50. I passed on that one when I
heard that Nikon has their own wide angle lens (creating an equivalent to
24mm on a 35mm camera) for around $250. I've used that lens now and like it.
I find no vignetting on the edges -- which I did find unacceptable on the
wide angle lens for both the Kokak (210?) and Olympus cameras. Even on the
Nikon, you can't see the entire image through the viewfinder because the
lens blocks some of the view, but you CAN see the entire image on the LCD
screen.

To round out my system, I bought two sets of 4 Olympus Ni-MH rechargable
batteries along with a charger.
I was running through high end alkalines after only 12 - 20 shots, but these
batteries have lasted through more than 100!!
I also bought two 48MB SanDisk Compact Flash memory cards. Each card gives
me around 76 shots at the highest resolution so I can shoot many 12-shot
QTVR panoaramas.
To speed the process of transferring the images to a hard drive, I wanted
the SanDisk ImageMate that was hyped in material that came in the Compact
Flash boxes. But the ImageMate only works with PCs and I'm a Mac man.
So the store I ordered from (Best Stop Digital in New York - ask for Al)
told me that Adtron makes a drive called the Accent which works with Mac
and, like the ImageMate, transfers at speeds 20 times faster than the serial
port.
The combo has been working very nicely.

I know it was agonizing to finally break down and make a purchase after
testing a few other cameras. As with all computer-related items, a month
after you buy something better and cheaper comes out, but you've got to take
the plunge sometime and I've been pretty pleased with my system so far.

I hope this helps.
