RE: Big B&W Film, ABS pipe

>>I've been processing 7"x17" and 11"x14" film (FP4 and HP5) in home-made
Schedule 40 ABS-pipe processing tubes for many years now. I work in a
normally lighted room and the film is often in the tubes for 30 minutes
to several hours, depending on how many I load at a time and how
quickly I process them. Never had ANY problems with fogging.

I have always wondered if some of the manufacturers that offer tube type
processors also use common ABS Pipe for their tubes? I wondered this when
we first started selling Beseler's Processors when they introduced their
Beseler Color (2-Step, Pre-Cibachrome) process. The comments our employees
made were things like "How dare they charge so much for common water pipe".
There is no problem with ABS.

I made a print processor with the material. I took a 60" long piece added
caps to each end and used a band saw to cut it lengthwise. This formed a
trays to hold print developer. A smaller in diameter piece was used to keep
the print in the tray and two pieces were made by slitting them so the
edges of the paper could be held. Perfect results time after time.
