Australian Widescreen Festival

The 28th Australian International Amateur Widescreen Festival has just been
held, and readers may be interested to hear that Rainer Lampinen of Finland
took first place in the 'Best Slide' section with a Widelux slide called
'Musician No 1', a photo of a harpist in which he has moved the camera so
that the effect is 'impressionistic'.

Best Set of Slides (4 or more on a theme) went to Frank Lowe of England
with a set called 'Western Australia', shot in what we call 'mini-pan'
format - i.e. masked 35mm frames.

The multi-talented Mr Lampinen also entered some videos shot in 16:9 format
for widescreen television, in our movie comp, although he did not win any
prizes.

The prize-winning slides will be appearing on our website shortly. I will
advise when they have been included.
