I feel that any misappropriation of intellectual property requires firm
action. In this era of the Internet, it is essential that the unwashed
masses learn to respect intellectual property rights, and I suspect that
the IRS technique (fear begets compliance) will produce more results
than will result from individual integrity. If it becomes widely known
that "innocent" copyright infringement may result in dire consequences,
the innocent will carefully weigh the cost/benefit of their actions.
