thanks for the information. i was not aware of this procedure. yesterday i became aware of the controversy i created when i provided links to the nice images shot on infrared film. i wrote the person who took them asking for guidance, but i have not yet received any reply because he lives in another time zone. i have no control over the links because they were placed on for sale board. they will drop off by themselves in 2 days. next time i find something nice, i will make sure the links are listed according to your suggestion.

thanks again.

Dear A. Calciu,
I noticed that your web page includes links to images which
are not yours. While links to other pages on the web are
often a nice way to promote someone else's web page, failing
to include an introductory line as to the fact that the
viewer is about to access someone else's web page AND
bypassing their opening page AND just using their image is
not only poor web mannors but a violation of copyright.
Might I suggest that you remove these links directly to
someone else's work?
If you wish to include links to someone else's page,
perhaps the following guidelines might just keep you out of
court, legal hassel, and expense, as well as being a better
citizen of the internet:

1. Ask permission to make a link to someone else's page.
This is paramount if you are a commercial page! Many links
are done for educational purposes, but your link is for
PROFIT and you are NOT compensating the person for the work
which you are steeling!

2. After gaining permission, place a LABELED LINK to the
HOME-PAGE of the site with the examples of the work, eg;
"Click here to see images taken with this type of camera
taken by ____________." Then link to the proper opening page
and not the individual image.

3. Do NOT link directly to individual images! This is a
violation of copyright.

Thanks you for your understanding,
MTyler
