I believe it is OK to have fun

Well, although I would like to close this lively disucssion and move on to
something else, I have learned a lot from the discussions.
But let me observe:
1. one person said: why go panoramic, when you can crop, distort and the like
with your PC?
True, but can you then take your 35mm or even cropped medium format image and
blow up really large?
You need some pwoerful PC to make big prints.
If you don't own a large format camera, or a 617 camera, then you chances are
lessened tomake big pritns. I once saw a print from a Linhof 617 that was
really large, like 4x12 feet, and everything was still quite sharp up close.
using your scissors or PC won't work here.
2. Another person is against havign a good time. Why? At least we brought some
life to the forum. It was quite dead or stale. Let's keep it this alive at
times. Not all the time, but occasional flare-ups are very much needed.
3. Nobody disagreed with my plea for looking beyond the externals and go with
the inside vision. Whetehr that is PC generated small porint, or a large
muraI, it simply doesn't matter.
I have made the mistake of concentarting on cameras, rather than vision. A
friend of mine told me in a sovber fashion that better cameras don't take
better pictures. It sounded painful to me, but he was right. We can get
carried away by the materialistic, and buy cameras that lure and tempt us.
On the other hand I also agree that a new camera can open up new visions and
possibilities. But sometimes you find out that the vision is not of a lasting
nature, and you find yourself selling your stuff again.
But then again, if you approach photogaphy as an art, as I do, then you
develop, evolve, grow, etc. and your cameras may have to change to support
that growth.
Boy, I sound like a sermon, any Amens?
If you permit me, may I, as promised, start another discussion?
A famous photographer once told me that real photography, as art, should
always be in black and white. What do you think?
