FYI: You can do all the processing using a PC costing less than the center filter
for your Linhof. 

But you missed the point: It is not substituting a PC for a camera. It
is extending the capabilities of your camera using a PC. Eg you can
use the Linhof's output to generate the projection of the Noblex, or
vice versa. Or use a fisheye image to create both projections.
Or experiment with projections no lens can deliver. 

All that with the full resolution of your camera, be it a 35mm, medium
or large format system.
