Contemporary (live & working) monochrome photographers worth looking at:
Michael Kenna, Mary Ellen Mark, John Sexton, The Bechers, Robert Adams,
Nicholas Nixon, Micha Bar Am, Elliot Erwitt.
Somebody said that some of the color photographers I listed earlier as being
worthy of study/admiration/collecting: Jay Maisel, the late Ernst Haas, Joel
Meyorwitz, Arthur Meyerson, Jack Dykinga, Bernie Imes, David Doubilet,
Richard Misrach, Joyce Tenneson, Sam Abell, Jodi Cobb, William Albert
Allard,
Sandy Skoglund, either had lucky breaks, were coasting on their laurels, and
other such (weak) criticisms.
Well I'd like to hear more specific criticisms of the specific
photographers. as far as luck is concerned, generally I have found that
people who carp about another's "luck" are really saying something about
themselves. I don't think you can just say "someone had a lucky break" as I
have found that luck comes to those prepared to exploit the opportunity that
arises. So come on: lets hear something more thoughtful, maybe we can all
learn something from what you have to say.

Luck is the residual of creativity.
Doesn't that say it all, for us?
