Re: HORIZON BANDING

I've used both the Widelux (F6B, F7, F8) and Horizon (Horizont, Horizon
202). In my experience the Widelux is much more prone to banding due to
speed irregularities because it uses entirely separate gear trains and
governors for each speed. The gear trains are delicate brass clockwork.
Lack of use exacerbates the problem. Chip offers a potential solution -
use it or lose it!
The Horizont and Horizon have only one gear train which is simple and
rugged in construction. It is unusual to see banding on either. The only
fault that I have seen consistently in the old Horizonts is light leakage
around the felt light traps at either side of the drum. I haven't seen
that trouble with Horizon 202s but we'll see in another 20 years or so.
