I have yet to come acrross 202 banding caused by rotational- or
speed-irregularities (vertical that is, never seen any image
'defects' oriented horizontally).
That said, there are still two/three[*] possible errors that can cause
vertical artifacts:

#1: More or less 'user error', when shooting right into the sun
(and thereby mistaking swing-lens flare for actual (mechanical
speed-related) banding).

#2: the shutter not closing on rewind/recocking. Does not have to
appear with every intermediate shutter speed (I recall that the
smaller slits showed a problem, while full open did not, and it can also vary
with recocking in one full throw or with multiple short throws (latter
being worse)).

#3: leaking felt trap on the sides of the drum. Only heard about this once
with a 202. Appears to be easy to correct, by pushing the felt back
in.

[*] there is a fourth one, but that one only applies to Kodak
Infrared HIE b&w film, and is not so much 202-related:
Fogging of film caused by not loading (or developing!....~!@#$%^&*
shops!) in the dark....the effect

Summary, in order of frequency/likelihood:

1) flare
2) shutter not closing on rewind
3) felt trap not correctly assembled
4) daylight-loading of Kodak HIE

I have cc'd it this time, but please be aware that most people will
ignore this line, and only reply to the list. IOW: don't count on
this, better subscribe with a frequently used account.

PS: if your warranty is over, I can sell you a brand new 202 for
US$375....just in case you were thinking of forking out another
US$800 or so, not an uncommon price in the USA and elsewhere....;-))
I also fabricate a range of custom-color filters, like #21 orange,
#25 red, #87 infrared and polarizer. A definate next project is a
colored polarizer (a la 'vari-color' Cokin/Hoya)....took
Blue/Yellow and Green/Orange with me skiing this year, and had a
blast while using it with my EOS-gear (20mm required some tinkering
with the filter holder)....very intense colored skies (and ski's....:-)),
much much different than using plain color filters....eye-boggling!
