Gene,

This seems like a lot of work, and may not give satisfactory results. If you
want the 50mm lens for a more "normal" perspective/aspect ratio, try this
instead:

I have a Horizont FT-2 for sale for $300. It is the presecesor to the
Horizon, and has the 50mm lens you seek. It is fixed at f5.6, and has
shutter speeds 1/50, 1/100, 1/200, 1/400... and the film gate provides a
very pleasing 4:1 aspect ratio with this lens length!

It is in excellent shape - reliable with no problems such as banding - and
includes a carrying case and original box. For probably less than the cost
of a converter lens and machining expenses - not to mention the trouble of
getting this done and the risk of it failing - you can keep your Horizon and
pickup this unit.

Let me know if you are interested or have questions.

I'm presently investigating the possibility of converting
my Horizon lens. I don't like a wide angle lens for
panoramas and want to convert my Horizon from 28 mm
to 50 mm. My first attempt will be to add a X2 tele
converter inside the lens drum. Does anyone know if this
has been done ?
