panoramic volkswagen

dateline: wolfsburg, germany. one of the panoramic photographs that i am quite proud of i shall have to describe as i haven't established a web page. steve shapiro says he likes the explanation
as well as the actual. i'd been in wv plant for twenty minutes in 1965 to add assembly line  pictures to exhibit i was building. maybe i shot 8 frames and out. mercedes had given me a new car to use with hopes it could be in ever photograph. answer is that it was like charlie chan's brother, fat chance. i had translator and driver from
states so i could talk to someone at maltzite. there was no question i'd be admitted. red tape had been cut. anyway, here is the picture i want to tellya. at the long side of the building i saw side by side beetle after beetle, beetle after beetle. but why not, they get 'em free, probably. no wait, there's one car that ain't a beetle. ta-da, it is a corvair with a wolfsburg license plate. one simon/wide b&w panoramic frame, 3:1 ratio, i got it. corvair was making  noises like a competitor, so vw  bought one for testing. ralph nader did some testing as well. now, because of thomas kunz incident over night
i want to insert my personal disclaimer. i did not mention volkswagen because they are in the news and not about their wonderwagon, the neu beetle. simon nathan 2-24-99
