It was published pretty fully last year - including in BJP. It was either
a BBC crew or one working for the BBC. I published a note on it in a
magazine I edit a little earlier, written by someone who also works for
the BBC, but who luckily wasn't in the group who suffered. This is also in
the online version at http://www.spelthorne.ac.uk/pm/lip/mar98/tonym.htm
but there are no real details given, as at the time I think there was a
case for compensation being taken (and I think they eventually got
compensation, though this may be denied) and the writer was not able to
reveal more.
The whole thing was discussed at some length in various news groups at the
time, so a web search would no doubt turn up some more advice and
information. Generally advice was ALWAYS to hand carry exposed film and
not to use lead bags.
