One thing I've seen about the Horizon shutter release button is that the
outer housing can become unscrewed (counter clockwise direction) that
causes it to stick out farther from the body.  This would require a
longer pin depth to press on the internal mechanism.

Try screwing the release button (clockwise) until it is back in the
normal position.  Don't overtighten!  If it's loose, it will be very
easy to screw back in very gently by hand.
