Think 'slide projector', and combine that with the outstanding
quality of the 45mm and 90mm TS-E lenses (the 24mm is very good, but
requires stopping down, and still doesn't match 45 and 90mm).
If these three TS-E lenses didn't already exist, my concept would be
worthless. But *because* these lenses already exist, quite
expensive as well, why not create another application?

Depends on the quality of the lenses....remember that you expand
35mm-lens quality, you don't crop medium format quality.

Your arguments are valid, but overlook the synergy aspect of my
concept. Parts of it already exist, and not just one lens, but three.
In my point of view, it is simply a shame I can't use my 24mm TS-E to
its full extent. And it would justify buying the 90mm even
more....:-))

[think about it: architecture, macro (several people use it with 2x
converter and extension tubes (for the tilt-feature)), and
panorama....try that kind of modularity with any other system!]

Heck, Canon might even copy the X-pan innards, by offering a normal
mode (24x36mm) and a pan mode (24x58mm).

If an Xpan with 45mm lens has a market chance, then such an EOS-pan
body has even more right of existence.
(if only because it would be much more ergonomic!....:-))
