Hello and a question on oddball film sizes

Hi I'm new to this list. I have been taking mozaic style panarama's on and
off for about 10 years. I think I have a pretty good technique based mainly
on the idea of allowing _lots_ of overlap between pictures. However I was
wondering if anyone had worked out a good systemized approach to this? My
experience is that setting a tripod up at one point and shooting round
works well for distant objects and landscapes. However, close up you get a
distracting barrel effect which seems most pronounced when photographing
buildings. Recenly I have been looking into a parallel technique where the
camera is moved parallel to the building for the subsequent exposures. This
seems better, but a camera malfunction means that I didn't get the results
I expected and will havbe to try again. Has anyone else tried this? Any
words of wisdom?
Finally, I am told that you guys are the experts on "Make your own" oddball
film sizes. I have a 616 camera and a number of out of date films. I'm
looking at rerolling them with fresh 70mm stock. I was wondering if anyone
knew of a cheap 70mm film source (preferably unperferated) and anyones
experiences with making up obsolete roll film sizes.
Many thanks
Lyndon
