Lyndon,
Obviously great minds run in the same channels. That is exactly the
assignment I've given myself today. My wife has a very lovely and very long
garden and I want to do as you suggested.
I once saw a similar rendering at Broadway Video in New York, where Lorne
Michaels' Company is located. They had walked the entire length of West 42nd
Street from 7th to 8th Avenues, shooting straight on into every building.
Although it was pre-panoramic software, they trimmed is with an Xacto knife
and the perspective was quite striking.
I have a couple of software choices: Spin It and PhotoVista. I prefer the
latter.
I'm going to first experiment with my toy Hewlett-Packard C20 at low res.
I'll probably shoot 20 or so images vertically and just try on the
technique. Then if I like it, I'll shoot some 35mm slide film and scan them
in on my PhotoSmart scanner.
I find working from a digital camera is so much easier because the size is
already predetermined. I have to do a lot of fiddling to get the slides
EXACTLY the same size, right down to the last pixel.
Care to do a show and tell when our mutual experiments are done?
