Hi simon,
Hope you can read the message. I am not quite in
the jerry hat trick stage yet but did cover rob kennedy's visit to southern
africa for black star and time/life a little while ago. amazing what the latest
gadgets can do. sony have a mavica that shoots 60secs of video that builds into
a 360 panorama. that's what i'm after. many thanks.

FYI-craig, the original
spec for the hulcherama, after two very different prototypes, included that it
turn vertically, have
effective shutter speed of one second, and some others i can look up. they
were written by simon who didn't know squawt about camera building but knew
how to use 'em. this camera gets better and better. in an imaginary interview
with the wonderful, but late charles hulcher i asked him if he wasn't a bit
worried about nikon's towering inferno version that claimed about 9fps. he
replied that they could go that slow "but we'd have to charge ya
extra." further, recall that emil schultress sold a lot of posters
of swiss alps done with his rig of three 35mm widelux cameras aligned on a
bracket.simon nathan

Going through the store room the other day I came across 3 of
EWA motorised panning heads. Driven by an external 4.5 battery pack they can
rotate clock-and anti-clockwise and speeds at 20-360 secs for 360 degrees.
Included is a small felt covered table top that can be used for shooting
objects in the round (I forget the technical term) or accomodating
unconventional cameras etc. I have placed one on aution at th following
address:http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=116124667 but will make the other two available to members of the group.
Special service to anyone who can suggest a method of using the sensor from
a handscanner vertically to make 360 digital panoramas.Craig. South Africa
