Hello Jamie,
The 5 inch camera is currently on another shakeout cruise above 14,000' up
in Colorado. I'm doing development and troubleshooting currently. I just
fixed an internal reflection problem and am doing some further work on the
software interface and 'Fosterproofing' issues. ('Fosterproofing' being the
act of finding solutions to problems resulting from users other than
yourself handling the camera.)
The camera is generally quite successful. The few remaining issues look to
be easily resolved. But I have had ongoing difficulties with using high tech
solutions for a one-off camera. While the design issues they address are
fulfilled quite nicely, the problems of pricing and procurement continue to
be challenging since I can't honestly dangle the prospect of thousands of
future production units in front of suppliers hungry for new, big-seller
clients.
But as it moves further along, the pleasures of using a 5 inch format
camera that weighs just over 5 lbs. and can be mounted with the
quick-release onto the tripod and shot within seconds are gaining favor in
my book.
Thanks,
Kurt Mottweiler
