Need some advice on panoramas

Hi there!
Just bought a digital machine (Kodak DC265) and
started shooting some indoor panoramas. I am
no expert at photography at all!
I am working on a difficult building, with bad
lighting. Sometimes I find small strong lights
in generally dark rooms that make me correct the
exposure, setting the EV to 1 or more. I think this
is the best way to get the rooms lighter isn't it?
Or should I use instead the Exposure time?
Also, is there any script available so we can
scale the Exposure time in values smaller than 0.5 seconds?
Because this is way too much time for the rooms and
it gets too much light...
Then, after taking the panoramas, do you usually retouch
the jpegs before stitching? What kind of modifications
are usually done? get darker or lighter? change some colors?
Any plug-in specially good for this, for photoshop, for
instance?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Jorge
