Zapped By Ritz

I had an un-wonderful experience with my local Ritz Camera
(Falls Church - Seven Corners) Store.
Saturday I strolled around the D.C. Mall, shooting a couple
of rolls with the Horizon. Should have been no trouble
getting the rolls souped at Ritz. I explained (to what looked
like the senior guy) that these were big frames, and would
probably fit two frames per sleeve.
Went back later and the film was tightly curled in a film
canister. I explained to the girl at the counter that this
was not a good way to store film, and that I had already asked
that film be sleeved. I even showed her the frames and got
her to understand that these were longer than normal.
She, in turn, takes the rolls back to the life form that is
operating the processing machine today. I hang around the
front counter and, noticing he's working on the slice 'n'
sleeve machine, I stroll back -- just in time to see him
slice through the middle of a frame. I stop him and have
to walk him through almost every cut left on that roll.
He hand me the negatives, and I realize that he's already
completed the other roll. Can you share my sinking feeling?
Yep! Out of 14 frames he managed to slice 6. I ask the
senior guy what gives, he calls the idiot up front, and the
idiot says he used to normal sized frames -- like that
justifies slicing up mine!
Well -- As it stands now, I get to talk to the manager on
Monday.
What really frosts me is that this idiot running the machine
knew he screwed up with the first roll (after I walked him
through what was left of the second), but kept his mouth
shut -- I guess hoping that I wouldn't figure it out. I
think this is where the idiot crossed the line between
negligence and misconduct.
Sigh.
