You are so right. That was what I was trying to say but I guess it got lost.
Someone here was suggesting that there is a Nikkor 24mm lens that can cover
6x6.  I was pondering that possibility and don't see how that (Nikon 24mm
covering 6x6) is remotely possible.  The slit makes the project much easier
(cheaper too).  The 47mm Schneider lens for 6x7 view cameras is a good
example:  Imagine how big the lens would have to be on a Noblex 150 camera
if it had to cover such a large area as the 6x7 view camera lens does.  It
stands to reason that the Noblex Docter 50mm lens would have to be
approaching the size of the 47mm Schneider just for the reasons you state.
So with all the "disadvantages" of the swing lens camera, there are some
"advantages" in lens size, weight and ultimately cost.
