The simplest way I can think of to mount the camera upside-down
on a tripod is to get a strip of thick sheet metal (for rigidity)
and drill two holes just over 1/4" in diameter.
The first hole is to mount the strip on the tripod, using a 1/4" 20
nut (or you can tap a 1/4" 20 thread if you have the tools/skill).
The other hole is used to mount the camera upside down using a 1/4" 20
screw of the right length.
The two holes must be far enough apart for the camera to fit next to
the tripod.
You will need to make sure the lop-sided mount does not topple the
tripod. A sturdy tripod shoulf be OK. Alternatively you can attach
a counterweight to the other side of the strip.
