Go north, young man.

Start at the Marin headland, just over the GG Bridge. Come back into
Sausalito through the tunnel if it's open. Follow signs to Mt. Tamalpais and
if the wind is not too bad you can shoot a sweeping view of the Bay Area. Go
on to Muir Woods.

Next stop is Point Reyes (windy at the lighthouse) with excellent hiking
trails in woods and along beaches and Tamales Bay. I imagine that the
village of Bolinas is as quirky today as it was when I lived in Marin County
(but you could miss it, as the locals routinely remove the sign at the turn
off). Bodega Bay is interesting when the tide is out. Visit the cluttered
marina on the river at Albion.

Keep going to Mendocino and Fort Bragg for plenty of additional coastal
scenery. We used to stay at the Seafoam Lodge in Little River, just south of
Mendocino.

If you continue north, stop for upscale lunch at the Benbow Inn among the
redwoods. These are just some of the sights that come to mind. I've not been
to the area since going panoramic, but I do recommend the trip.
