FS: EOS Sigma 8mm/f4.0 circular fisheye, or Contax/Yashica mount
- From: Willem-Jan Markerink <w.j.markerink@xxxxx>
- Subject: FS: EOS Sigma 8mm/f4.0 circular fisheye, or Contax/Yashica mount
- Date: Fri, 10 Mar 2000 01:53:06 +0100
For Sale:
- Brand new Sigma 8mm/f4.0, originally Contax/Yashica, to be modified to
Canon EOS mount
- Includes box, manual, blank warranty cards and 3 filters (internal screw
system)
- US$650, or make offer (US$500 in its original Contax/Yashica mount)
(will consider trade with a A2-format flatbed scanner (low res like 300dpi
is okay))
This is a special modification, since until recently, Sigma didn't make
this lens in EOS-mount at all (and others only on special request/order).
So this modified version does not have AF nor aperture coupling,
only manual focus and work-aperture, but a fine piece of optics
nontheless, on par with OEM optics of other brands....Nikon/fisheye expert
David Ruether (aka Bob Neumann on Usenet) rates it on par with the Nikon
8mm/f2.8, which is not only more expensive, but also more bulky and more
heavy.
Note that this all-manual version also avoids the upwards-compatibility
problems common with older Sigma/Tokina/Tamron/etc lenses when being
mounted on a newer/later EOS body....new isn't always better....this
version will work on any possible EOS-body in the future.
For technical details on this Sigma and other fisheyes (both full
frame and circular, both 35mm and medium format), including some
pictorial samples, in a sublimation of fisheye, infrared and winter, check
