tripods and such

A number of years ago a canidate for something was to be at a local
airport for a rally.
I wanted to use my 35mm Globuscope for a fun shot.
Having been around the Secret Service when I was in the news business, I
decided to arrive early, seek out their command post and tell them what
I was doing. Showed them my id, my business card and this funny looking
camera. They were more interested in the camera than me and even helped
me get a lot closer to the guy they were protecting than I thought I
could.
These guys have no sense of humor when something strange pops out of a
crowd!
I also followed up with a print to the agents  that helped me.
The point is they were willing to help me because I met them half
way.....but it could have been ugly if I had surprized them! I don't
like rules but sometimes it's fun to bend them in your favor..
