Things are starting to firm up regarding the April Panorama Meeting in the Washington, DC area from April 6 to April 8, 2000. I am at the point where I need to get a head count so I can start finalizing plans.

Here is the itinerary as it currently stands:

Thursday, April 6

Meeting commences.

Morning - Library of Congress - presentation on L of C panorama collection and conservation techniques for panoramic photographs.

Midday - Photography on US Capitol grounds + group shot (?). Lunch (buy your own) and photography at the Department of Labor Building (pending permission - this building's cafeteria has a large patio area that has a nice, unobstructed view of the US Capitol and Grant Memorial from 6 stories up). After lunch, attendees will have the option of visiting one or both of the following exhibits: Carleton Watkins at the National Gallery - East Wing; Picturing the Century at the National Archives.

Afternoon - Presentation on the panoramic collection of the Smithsonian Institution and tour of their photographic operations (tentative, but likely). This will occur at the Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution.

Late Afternoon - YoYo. Suggestion: Trek down to Tidal Basin for Cherry Blossom photography.

Friday, April 7:

Morning: Presentations at the National Archives at College Park. Morning refreshments.

Midday: Lunch on-site (buy your own).

Afternoon: More presentations and speakers. Afternoon refreshments.

Late Afternoon: YoYo. Suggestion: Considering rush hour traffic, you might do best with photographing at the National Arboretum in NE Washington.

Saturday, April 8:

Late Morning to Mid-Afternoon: Presentations, portfolio viewings, "open" microphone and lunch buffet (included in registration fee) at the Golden Bull Restaurant in College Park, MD.

Each meeting attendee will receive a "souvenier package" of publications from the National Archives.

Meeting concludes.

If you wish to attend this April Panorama Meeting. Please register with me personally. I am organizing this meeting as a private citizen interested in panoramic photography and not as the member of an established club or association ( though I am a member of the IAPP ).

To register, please send me a check or money order for $25.00 (to cover the costs of refreshments on April 7 and the lunch buffet on April 8). Please make the check payable to Richard Schneider. I'll also try to have name badges available. These will also have your home town listed. If you prefer to use a nickname, or if you pay with a company check which does not contain your own name, please include this information on a separate slip of paper.

Send your check or money order to:

PO Box 6550

Please try to register by March 31 so I can firm up plans, especially with the restaurant.

Thank You!

Richard
