There is no need to add letters to the subject-header, any decent 
mail-client should be able to filter on several items in the 
admin-header, including To:, From:, CC:, Reply-To: etc.
The Reply-To: line is the most important one when dealing with 
mailinglists.
Then create a separate mailfolder for each mailinglist, and have the 
mail-client move incoming mail to that mailfolder. Voila, all 
listmail in a separate folder.
Then sort by subject, unread mail first, and you can tackle even the 
largest mailinglists in multiple format, with hundreds of mails each day.
