The archival quality of dye transfers and Ilfochromes is already
available with inks usable in Epsons. The Ilford Archiva CMYK inks +
Ilford paper for the Encad are usable in the Epson 3000 and with a
slight adaptation for the 9000 and the 1200 etc. CcMmYK inks based on the
Archiva range will soon be available as Xtreme Gamut inks for Epsons.
Another choice is the Generations pigment ink that has some limitations
on colour strength and paper choice. If you want archival inkjet prints it
certainly doesn't have to mean it will be cheaper. If you want cheaper
inkjet prints buy Chinese cartridges or do refills. If you want non
archival, expensive inks stay with the manufacturers carts (before the
1270 range). If you want big affordable archival panorama prints it isn't
so stupid to check what can be done in inkjet printing.
