I understand there was a question posted as to the profit from the Las Vegas
conference and "What's up with IAPP."

As reported to the president and the board following the conference, there
were 40 members from all over the United States, including a member from
France and 13 spouses. Everyone had a great time and most came to our home
for a farewell BBQ. The conference contributed $500 PROFIT to the IAPP bank
account, in addition to $60 for QPP tests (thanks to Jeff Weisenburger &
Denis Hill), $17 for boutique items, 2 renewals, 1 new member and all monies
was deposited on March 15. Regarding the 2000 Membership Directory, printing
with color, lay-up and mailing of the directory was totally paid for by
advertising. First time IAPP didn't have to spend any IAPP monies for the
directory and the members didn't have to wait until June to receive it. Most
members renewed very promptly. Thank you members !

Re changing the magazine format and going to black and white, one of the
goals by a majority of the board, was to save money for 4 or 5 issues in
order to promote IAPP membership. The black and white March issue alone saved
IAPP $3000 ! A larger membership would benefit IAPP in many areas. The
magazine in "99 costs IAPP more to produce and mail then what it was
receiving per member.

Re the IAPP financial statement, the 501c non profit status tax return, "is
not required by law to be filed until May 15" and I had planned to have it
published in the June issue. Why did Liz feel it necessary to speak to the
IRS regarding IAPP finances ? This is like calling a missile strike on your
own position.
