Re: Jamie is RIGHT iapp
Dear Simon,
If you don't mind a textbook answer to your concern that "I have no idea what they [IAPP] represent" let me transcribe the following from our by-laws. Under Article II - Object, it reads: "The object of this association shall be to create a membership network to educate, promote and exchange art and technical ideas and to expand public awareness regarding Panoramic Photography" (transcribed from April 1998 issue of Panorama magazine.).
More to the point however, IAPP helps create the stage for people interested in panoramic photography to meet, converse, exchange ideas and learn from each other. While on-line clubs, chat-lines and even IAPP's Panorama magazine may provide useful information and commentary for subscribers, I think that nothing rivals the opportunity to meet people face-to-face. IAPP conventions, conferences and meetings provide this opportunity.
If you are interested in possibly joining please contact me at iapp_secretary@xxxxxxxxx so I can answer your questions privately. If you know you'd like to join, please visit our web site www.panphoto.com and go to the Join page for an application you can print out. Dues are paid on an annual basis. If you join mid-year you will receive back issues of the magazine for that year.
Please note that while the web site has indeed been updated (as of April 12), the Join page still has the prior address for the Secretary / Treasurer.
Please make check or money order out to: IAPP.
Please send to: P.O. Box 6550 Ellicott City, MD 21042 (new IAPP address).
Thanks,
Richard
PS: I'm a Jersey native myself, having grown up in Elizabeth and Old Bridge.
