exactly ... it goes without saying that if the film transport mechanism is
delivering incorrect film speed for whatever reason (bad gearing, improper
alogorithm, lack of lubrication, ... whatever) you will end up with less than
perfect (within the limits of physical possibility) results.

The lens focal length still does not change ... what does or might change is
the rate at which film travels through the camera.
