Dear Fred and fellow photographers!

It's important that we fight to secure our copyrights on the web. The
problem is that there aren't that many things we can do. Chances of finding
the pictures which are stolen onto other websites is small, and what are you
going to do when you find them? And lets turn and look at ourselves. Have
any of you downloaded MP3s?

Sending an invoice will show them that "we're watching" and actually react
upon their copyright lawbreaking. But at the end of the day - and at the
bottom of the invoice - what's your price? How much are you going to demand?
Amazon.com and Ebay.com get many hits so are we supposed to bill by how many
potential viewers a photograph has?

I've had my pictures stolen too but they where used on non-commercial or
private hobby sites, so what I've done is I've sent them an email demanding
them to write my name alongside the picture or take it off. And they've
adhered to this. Although there is no difference if it is used by a private
person or a company Amazon.com and Ebay.com do make a sweet living from
their sites and it's only fair the pay up.

As as many countries that exist there are different copyrightlaws but the
bottomline to all are: it's your piece of work.

I would like to hear everyone's opinion on this. And also how they guard
themselves from "break-ins". I've seen sites where all pictures were cut up
in fours or sixes so as to complicate stealing.

Miklas, Denmark

P.S. It seems you're more annoyed that they compared your Roundshot 70mm to
a Horizon 202. Hey, I love my 202. It's won me prizes!
