The main problem is that the current Pan list software doesn't offer a
members-only posting concept, which effectively prohibits postings from
non-members/non-subscribers/spammers.
However, if all goes according to plan, this list will soon have a
new home, under Majordomo, on the same server that already runs the
Infrared Photography Mailinglist since 1996, and the Canon EOS
Mailinglist since this summer....the Pan list configuration is being
tested as we speak (the actual fine tuning is in the filter
department, admin-stuff gets messy with several lists sending
admin-reports....:))
One thing I would also like to implement at the same time, is a
filter on MIME/HTML-formatted postings....HTML doesn't belong in
email, and consumes quite some bandwidth....however, I believe Simon
Nathan needs this feature when writing, because of his eyesight
problems....and there is no way in hell I am going to block Simon's
postings, so we must find a different solution first....:))
In the past, I have tried to help Simon find an alternative setting
in his mail-editor, but that doesn't work too well from across the
pond....isn't there anyone living close to Simon to give him a hand
with this stuff? (Orange in NJ I think)
I believe he also still struggles with his scanner & web site, and
that on itself is a loss for mankind as well....;))
