You line the prints above and below each other and then move it along the
length of the print.  You do not actually view the entire print at once, you
move it along the print.  The top view will be moved to the right eye and the
bottom view to the left eye. A side by side viewer would not even allow you
to do this.

Some people have put the panoramas on cylinders to view.  They rotate the
cylinder to move the image around.
