Re dissolve stereo projectors

I have two Fed projectors in original condition except I have added earths
essential for our 240 volts supply. My reason for buying two was to make a
dissolve system by adapting the mono dissolve system of one of them to
operate the other in stereo dissolve. They can be mounted one above the
other and I have reversed the fan of the lower one so that it does not feed
hot air to the top one. The rewiring would be quite easy I think but I have
not gone any further because I am down to just two of the original 220 volt
200 watt bulbs and am experiencing great difficulty trying to find any more
. Some people over here have converted Feds to 24 volt 150 watt with
external transformers and this will actualy give about 30% more light than
the original bulbs.
However 24 volts does not operate the dissolve circuit properly with
the low wattage bulbs I experimented with both bulbs fade out after a few
seconds ,in addition if the 150 watt bulbs were used this would require 6
amps each the whole projector is onl fused for about 3 amps so I doubt the
dissolve circuits can take this. Marty Hewes confirmed for me that they
would only handle about 1 amp per bulb . P.J.Homer
