John B. raised the question:
>> Out of curiousity, what is the practical difference between a halogen bulb
>> and a Krypton bulb? Or how do they compare? (brightness, colour, life etc).

>Both krypton and halogen bulbs burn brighter and whiter, but halogen bulbs
can retain 97% of their brightness for their whole life. This is more
important in photography and projectors than for general illumination,
viewers, etc., where IMHO either krypton or halogen would be fine, and would
be an improvement over classic tungsten in argon. BTW, ethanol is fine for
removing fingerprints from lamps, though any residue-free grease solvent
would be fine too.
