I'm not sure a stereo collector-only list (or newsgroup) would generate
enough volume to survive. I think the better approach would be to
incorporate discussions here - and then re-open the discussion about a
separate list should the volume be great enough to justify it. (I used
to read and participate in the rec.collecting Usenet group, and stereo
discussions there were few and far between).
For the record, I have been predominantly a view collector, and (for the
longest time :-) have been considering shooting stereo. I've turned up
the energy on the latter a lot lately. I acquired a Nishika outfit at a yard
sale, but my only roll of film shot with that is probably in a dead-letter
box somewhere, because I sent it off just before news of their demise
spread. I've got some 35mm slide-bar print shots in to be developed,
and I'm hoping to find, realist-format and viewmaster cameras eventually.
(Part of the reason that my energy level is so high is that I'm in
Rochester, NY, and I want to maximize the opportunity when the NSA
convention is here next year!)
I guess this has turned into kindof an introduction message, although I've
posted a couple of times in the past. As far as views - my particular
interests include Western New York, famous people/presidents, and
candid shots which include people (street scenes, etc.)
I really like this mailing list! Besides being interesting (the post on
forensic 3D was fascinating) and informative (I'm learning so much to help
me on my entrance into 3D photography), this seems to be one of the
friendliest and most polite lists on the Internet!
