3d@xxxxxx -- Some thoughts

After we are done with all the excitement and congratulations, perhaps we
can give some thought to what exactly are we trying to achieve with expo.2. 
As some of you might remember, I expressed reservations about the way that
3d@xxxx was conducted.  Here are some questions that need to addressed:

Is expo an exhibition or a competition?  I vote for exhibition.  Then we
don't need all the voting business, splitting the participants to "newbies"
and "amateurs", prizes and all related hupla. 

Each maker can supply some info regarding his/her images and the
participants can wirte comments so when we get our images back we can have
fun reading the comments.  This is called FEEDBACK.  I thought that email
made such feedback easier and cheaper to exchange but my experience is that
very little of that was provided.

Do we need to pack viewers in a 25 lbs suitcase to be mailed via "signature
required" and under tight security?  Most of the slide-sharing circuits
that I participate (via SSA, and yes folks, there are organized groups that
do that) are mailed in a less than 2 lbs small box that is mailed via
"Priority Mail" ($3) USPS and takes 2 days to arrive from place to place.

These are some of the issues that come in mind...  I'll be happy to
participate in 3d@xxxxxx and I hope that more people join so that our 
efforts and expense is better invested.
