Realist and a 70s kmart flash

I have an old Kmart flash unit, to which I soldered a pc cable to to use with
the modified adapter for the realist from reel-3d. Actually I finaly got the
courage up to cut and solder the cable last night. I have not yet tested this
other than when I tript the shutter of the realist the flash fires.
 
My question to those, Is what speed film should I use. I want to try
photographing some of my work at the Dicken's fair. This is in a large dim
(although not as dim as it has been in the past) warehouse. My building, which
is a 1:1 scale reproduction of a victorian shop is twenty feet across and
twelve feet high, there is a statue 12 feet in front of this, the back wall of
the shop is 12 feet behind. the back wall of the pier is five feet behind that.
The ceiling of the pier is 22 feet above the booth, and about thirty at the
clestory in the center. Basically there is no reflection surface. I imagine
that most of what I want to photograph is in the 15 to 25 foot range.
 
I took some side by sides with a disposibale, and while the results are
viewable, it's puny little flash bairly lit the front of the building, which is
a medium plum color.
 
The kmart flash Is about 2.25 inches of flash tube about 3/4 inch accross.
There is a little dial which has distance on the top and film speed on the
bottom, the distance scale goes out to about 40 feet. A disk above this gives
apature openings. The whole thing can be bent 90 degrees and gives me just
enough room to trip the shutter.
 
Now I recall some discussion earlier regarding the sync of elect flash and
shutter speed. Does anyone have any recomendations on this?
 
I am thinking about shooting print film. That way I can get it transfered to
photo cd easier. Although I really like what slide film does in the realist.
 
I was also thinking about riging up a bunch of the flash units scrapped from
some disposables as slave flashes.
