Bios and self-portraits in expo2

Lauren Michaels feels strongly about anything that (in her opinion)
distracts from stereo imaging, like bios and photos of ourselves.
>If a bio is a requirement, I won't enter. :( ...
>If I can't communicate through my images, then I shouldn't
>be entering photo contests.
That's where we differ. For me, this is *NOT* a photo contest. It is
a chance to see what other people are doing in 3-d, contribute our own
images and feedback and hopefully get some feedback for ourselves.
>The bio thing is just bragging. It has nothing
>to do with stereo photography.
Perhaps there is a misunderstanding here... By "bio" we mean (or at
least this is how I interpret it) mostly stereo bio. We don't care
how tall Lauren is, if she is single or married or what she does for
living. What I care to know is how and when she got interested in
stereo imaging, what kind of photography she practices and what kind
of equipment she is using. Now, if someone wants to include age,
education or whatever seems to them appropriate, that's fine. That's
not a job interview... We are friends and would like to know more
about each other. The same is true for pictures. Sooner or later
some of us will meet in NSA conventions, etc. Wouldn't it be nice to
know how we look so we can recognize each other and avoid the usual
remark: "Hey, you don't look like anything I had imagined..."?
In any case, no one is forcing anyone to do anything other than follow
some basic rules. The stereo biography should be optional and so
should be the sheet with information about the images and also the
feedback to other people's images. We are doing this to share our
stereo work. Anything along the lines of helping others appreciate
better our work or help them improve their work is welcome but not
mandatory.
