Re: Ray Hannison and the Leitz Stereo Brite-line finder!

He, seeing the finder advertised for sale, wonders about the "Stereo
Leica" is must go with??? The Leica prewar had a stereo attachment
code name
Stereoly which while using prisms instead of mirrors, was much like
the
Stereotach, or other mirror attachments such as the Pentax one.
In the '50s Leitz Canada made a dual lens in a mount with a septum
separator to take stereo pairs on one Leica picture frame (24x36mm).
For more distant shots was an attachment with mirrors to widen the
separation to eye spacing. This was the Stereomar lens and the brite
finder is for that system. Since the Stereomar in the collector market
is about seven grand ($7000) I imagine the viewfinder is at least $300
or morek in value.

(Someone earlier found the Contaflex similar attachment by Zeiss
postwar
and was told that to find one and buy it would be at collector
prices!)
