screens vs barrier

I read the web page of (Art)n Laboratory regarding PHSColograms=AE they say:

>"It should be obvious at this juncture one reason for our preference of
linescreens over >lenticulars -- a barrier screen may be easily constructed
on the same output device as >the image, and duplicated by contact printing,
while lenticular material must be >specially made to match the exact pitches
available to the output device"

My question is why, after all their reseach into method, to produce the
highest quality possible, they use barrier screens when commercial prints
even from disposable cameras use screens, which as they say are more
expensive and difficult to produce?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

p.s. I know very little about lenticular photography, but I do understand
how it works!
