[ intro deleted for space - thanks for posting it! ]
#I hope this isn't all too long for an introduction.
#To make things worse, I have a couple of questions
#and remarks :
#
Don't know about all of these, but here's comments on some...
1) About being nearsighted...
I find this as a real benefit - if I remove my glasses,
I can free-view Realist slides, and even ViewMaster reels!
#2) Is it possible to 'attach' a file to a mail I sent to the list? I'm
using Lotus cc:Mail, and attaching files (never mind what the format is)
is very common for me. Would I mess up things ?
You _could_ attach things, but remember that people on this list use
many different email programs, so you might make it difficult for some.
Also, some people on this list pay per megabyte of email received, so
PLEASE do not attach binary files, images, etc. - it would not be welcome
by may of the photo-3d members!
If it is impossible, is there an alternative, supposed I want to share
something interesting with my co-listers (hear him, he is just joining)
The "bobcat" site has an ftp site - if you have something of interest you
might contact Bob Weir, and see if he could put it there for you, either
temporarily, or permanently, depending on how appropro it is... Bob?
#4) Any ideas about the high costs involved, when I want to order something
from the States ? The cost of money orders is $12 when I order something
from Holland !
I'd suggest use of a Visa or Mastercard when ordering. The amount of your order
is charged directly. I am not aware of a fee for currency change when doing this,
and I do this for non-US customers routinely. If there is an extra charge,
no one has told me about it.
#7) Why is it that co-listers, responding to a question, start by repeating the
question (prefixed with '>') ? A reference to the Digest # and the number from
...
The quick answer is that not everyone is in digest mode! But also, it is a real
time savings to not have to stop and go find a digest that has been referred
to. I will say that many times people quote _too much_ of a message they
are replying to!
