  I find I have two different modes: If I am recording an event,
like my vacation or my daughter growing up I will keep most
of the shots. The badly exposed, out of focus, and blinks
get thrown away. The remainder may not be great but they
are records and reminders of things that are important to
me.

  The second mode is when I am trying to take a photo of
something I think will make a good 3d photo.  Then I will
take a bunch of photos of the object, varying position,
aperture and whatever. After seeing the result I may prune
it down to one or two photos, or even zero if it didn't
make a good 3d photo.
