Wedding photography cont.
I was at a local "bridal show" today next to a professional photographer
showing my 3-d pictures (slides from a recent wedding) to the public.
There was a lot of interest... The photographers were impressed... The
public was impressed too but I don't think they took it seriously. I
understand the situation. These people were there to select a professional
photographer to do the usual print work. They want to get an album and
perhaps a huge print for their weddings. Anything that deviates from these
traditional lines is viewed as a gimmik of some sort and it not taken
seriously. Even though I emphasized that this is not a replacement for
good print work but a supplement, I did not see any one willing to try it
for their wedding, despite the very low prices. I now have a better
appreciation for the work that Alan Lewis is doing. Print 3-d appears to
be a better approach in both marketing and financial terms. It is a
natural extension of the print work that every one is familiar with.
Still, being at the show, showing the pictures to the public and other
photographers, and explaining the works and history of stereo photography
was a good experience for me.
