I agree entirely here, being a "newbie" to this list and a relative
beginner to 3-d photography I would not feel comfortable subscribing to
just one or two sub-lists, for fear of missing something of interest in
another list. I'm not a prolific poster (yet), but do always skim through
the list for items of interest.
My vote is keep it as it is for the moment, but if it gets much bigger
something may have to be done, a Usenet Newsgroup mentioned by Mark
Josephson seems a good idea to me :)
As an aside - my WWW and general Internet access to anywhere in the US has
now become so slow through my provider that it is nearly impossible to
access the archives. If this carries on much longer I'll be reduced to
email only untill I find another local provider :(
