A side discussion on the possibilities of amateur 3D TV prompts the
following:

(Surely it's been tried.)

Put a 50% mirror directly in front of the camcorder at 45 degrees. At
eye-spacing distance to the side place a 100% mirror parallel to it.
Let the light coming into the camcorder through the 50% mirror from
straight ahead go through (let's say) a red filter, and that light
taking two bounces (through both mirrors) go through a green or blue
filter.

Mail your friends at the receiving end the appropriate glasses.(Maybe
could use identical glasses for the two filters required by the above.)

Any experience out there? Practical problems? Recommended filters?
Source of reasonably priced half silvered mirrors? Major pitfalls?

I'm sure there are dichoic mirrors that might combine beam splitter
and mirror, but in view of probable expense filters would appear a
better choice to begin with. Wrong?

Obviously one doesn't have to transmit; one could simply play back
into the local VCR. Which makes me worry why there has been no
discussion that I remember on the list about this possibility.

Help, wisdom, perspective appreciated! Let me say, incidently,
that I'm NOT a major fan of anaglyph, or semi anaglyph, or whatever
this would be, but it still seems a reasonable project to keep one
off the streets.

Advance thanks!

John Dukes
