You just came back from a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Antartica and decided to home-process your 10 precious rolls to save $20. How would you feel if the ice and snow turn GREEN?
OK, the argument is streched. I have tried E-6 home processing and decided that the cost savings are not enough to justify the inconvenience or risk. Seeing my pictures turn green have something to do with it too... And I have seen green pictures come from others who do home-processing.
However...
As Joel pointed out, there are many situations where home-processing makes perfect sense.
Loading bulk film? It all depends on the prices. It makes perfect sense to do it for duplication film but not Sensia. And it is much safer and less time-consuming than E6 processing.
