Re: PHOTO-3D digest 1152

I have an open question regarding lens coatings. In particular, does anyone
know how to gently (chemically, I suppose) REMOVE a lens coating? About six
months ago, I purchased a new set of prescription spectacles and since I was
getting the "fancy" type with thin plastic lenses & higher index of refraction,
the optical shop sold me on the need for anti-reflection coatings. Some months
later, even with excruciating care in cleaning my spectacles (several times a
day); the coating has worn off here and there. The difference between some
areas being coated and some areas not coated anymore is quite annoying.

Does anyone know how to remove magnesium fluoride and not harm the plastic lens?
(Other than sending it back to the factory.)
